Session 1: Cosmetology & Skin
Cosmetology is the study of skin care, beauty treatments, including hair styling, cosmetics and permanent or non-permanent hair removal. Graduates/Undergraduates can learn wide range of beauty treatments and specialise in a specific are, also there are plenty of career choices for qualified cosmetologists, including barber, skin care consultants, hair color specialist, while others move into more technical professions like aesthetics. Before practising as a certified aesthetician, you must complete training and qualify written and practical exams, although every requirement is different depending on where you are willing to work.
The skin is divided into three layers called epidermis, dermis, and subcutaneous tissue. Various appendages, such as hair, nails, and glands are also found in the skin. The most important function of the epidermis is to protect against external stimuli such as dehydration, UV light and other physical factors, as well as chemical factors. Biological functions of the skin include thermoregulation, protection, sensory perception, and absorption. The skin also plays a role in indicating emotional state, such as blushing, fright and can be described as an organ signaling emotion. The skin also synthesizes vitamin D through the action of UV light on vitamin-D precursors in the skin. The chapter discusses several methods for evaluating the skin conditions of healthy people. A brief overview of acne, its causes and treatment measures are also discussed. The chapter also presents the acute changes in skin exposed to UV light and its prevention strategies. Finally, the chapter discusses the external changes in aged skin and the physiological changes associated with ageing.
Session 2: Cosmetology Techniques
Cosmetology covers many different areas in the beauty industry. The prime goal of cosmetology is to enhance someone’s appearance. There are three main aspects in the cosmetology industry. They include makeup, hair styling and nails. Advanced cosmetology techniques take these abilities to the next level.

Session 3: Cosmetic & Plastic Surgery
Cosmetic surgery & plastic surgery deal with improving a human body, the overarching philosophies guiding the training, research & goals for patient outcomes are different.
The techniques, procedures & principles of cosmetic surgery are entirely focused on enhancing person’s appearance. An aesthetic surgery can be performed on all areas of the body. Cosmetic elective procedures are performed by doctors from a variety of medical fields, including plastic surgeons. Plastic surgery is defined as a surgical reconstruction of facial and body defects. While many plastic surgeons choose to complete additional training and perform cosmetic surgery as well, the basis of their surgical training remains reconstructive plastic surgery.
Session 4: Aesthetic Medicines & Procedures
Aesthetic Medicine consists of all medical procedures that are intended to improve the physical appearance of the patient, using non-invasive to minimally invasive cosmetic procedures. The Aesthetic Medicine is not only confined to dermatologists and plastic surgeons as doctors of all specialties seek to offer services to address their patient’s medical needs and desires. Some Aesthetic Medicine procedures are performed under local anesthesia while some procedures do not require anesthetics at all.
Session 5: Latest Research in Trichology
Trichology is the study of the hair, scalp and all problems related to them. A ‘trichologist’ is someone who specializes in hair loss problems such as hair breakage, baldness and itchy/flaking scalp. Patients will also treat all forms of alopecia.
Session 6: Skill of Color Cosmetics, fragrances and beauty therapies
Commercial cosmetics & beauty therapies area large sector of cosmetology. It includes various specialties like beauty therapy which also enhances an individual’s self-esteem and confidence. Color cosmetics are growing trends, such as hair streaking. These hair coloring chemicals have many adverse effects. Other than these, the use perfumes, deodorants have inclined to new peaks. Recently fermented sea kelps have been used various cosmetic companies to make skin care products.
Session 7: Advantages of diet, Nutrition and use of Probiotics
Opting for a balanced diet is an important step towards a happy and healthy life style. Vitamins and minerals in the diet are vital to boost immunity and healthy development; Healthy diets also contribute to an adequate body weight. Nutrition is the processes by which an animal or plant takes in and utilizes food substances. Essential nutrients include vitamins, protein, carbohydrate, fat, minerals and electrolytes. 85% of daily energy use is from carbohydrates and fat and 15% from protein.
Probiotics are live bacteria and yeasts that are good for our digestive system. Your body is full of bacteria, both good and bad. Probiotics are often called helpful bacteria because they keep your gut healthy. Probiotics are found in supplements and some foods, like yogurt.
Session 8: Bio Cosmetics & Eco-Friendly Makeup
Biocosmetics are those products for skin, made from natural ingredients and plant source. These come from organic and biological crops. Ecological cosmetics is not only restricted to our skin, but also fairly treats nature and animals since they do not practice testing them.
Eco-Friendly makeup should be more like skincare. Many of the products carry are vegan, these products are made of organic and limited ingredients – no chemicals or synthetic fragrances, which irritate the skin.
Session 9: Herbal and Ayurveda Approach in Cosmetics
Herbal cosmetics are formulated using different ingredients to form the base in which one or more herbal ingredients are used to cure various skin ailments. Herbal cosmetic has growing demand in the world market and is an invaluable gift of nature. Herbal formulations always attracted attention because of their natural activity and comparatively lesser or no side effects with synthetic drugs. Herbs and spices have been used in maintaining and enhancing human beauty since ancient times.
Session 10: Current Research in Cosmetology
Cosmetology has become most used treatments and surgeries in field of medicine. Facial restoration advancements are used to cure facial ailments. Resurfacing and microderm abrasion have been a boon to latest cosmetic dermatology. Successful aesthetic surgeries like labiaplasty, liposuction and breast augmentation have been modified with time.
Session 11: Psoriasis & Rhinoplasty
Psoriasis is a skin ailment that causes skin cells to multiply up to 10 times faster than normal. This makes the skin build up into uneven red patches covered with white scales. They can grow anywhere, but mostly appear on the elbows, scalp, knees, and lower back. Psoriasis do not pass from person to person. It does sometimes happen in members of the same family.
Psoriasis usually appears in early adulthood. In acute cases, psoriasis can cover large parts of the body. The patches can heal & then come back throughout a person’s life.
Session 12: Hair Transplantation and Therapies
Hair transplantation is a surgical technique that removes hair follicles from a part of the body, known as the “recipient site”. The technique is mainly used to treat baldness. In this procedure, grafts containing hair follicles that are genetically resistant to baldness are implanted into the bald scalp. Hair transplantation can also be used to restore beard hair, eyelids, eyebrows, chest hair, pubic hair and heal scars caused by infections, accidents or surgeries. Hair transplant differs from skin grafting. In that, grafts have almost all epidermis and dermis around the hair follicle and many smaller grafts are transplanted instead of a single strip of skin.

Your skin is constantly protecting you. More common issues are acne scars, age spots, wrinkles, sagging skin and more common skin treatments are laser treatments for laser resurfacing and laser rejuvenation and microderm abrasion, botox (botulinum toxins), dermal fillers, chemical peels among others.
